Baking biceps
September 15, 2009 by Kristen
I got home from class today and had a craving for one of my childhood favorites! Pears and cottage cheese! I would consume this regularly as a kid, but this time the pears were fresh, not canned.

Yummy!
What are you favorite foods from childhood?
The hubz was off to campus and asked me to make some cornbread. If you’ve been reading my blog much, you’ll know that I’m not much of a baker! But for some reason I got in the mood this afternoon! The cast iron skillet helped. I also used a cornbread mix!

Soymilk was all I had on hand, but it was undetectable in the finished product!

Then I got crazy and made some
vegan biscuits.
A cup of whole wheat flour, 3 tbsp safflower oil, 1.5 tsp of baking powder, and a pinch of salt later:

I pressed moist dried cherries into each biscuit and sprinkled with raw turbinado.
10 minutes later at 375 degrees:

YUMMY! These are nice and soft, despite the simplicity of the ingredients! Blueberry would be a good variety to try!
I’ll eat them with honey on top, a smothering of Smart Balance, maple syrup, or even cream cheese! Yay for stretching my baking muscles. What are you making these days?
Goodnight for now!

Wow those sound super simple, but I bet they’re delicious
My Mum did lots of baking when I was a child, so anything she used to bake is a childhood favourite of mine. Oh and fish fingers. I used to love them and still do.:)

My current favourite thing to make is my Lara bar cakes and protein muffins

I love to bake – I am jealous of your cast iron skillet! I bet that makes amazing corn bread.
